Tune-Up & Oil Change Service

We perform tune-ups and oil changes on North American, Japanese, and European Import Cars, including BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and Volkswagen.

Vehicle-maintenance guidelines recommend scheduling regular oil changes for optimal performance of your vehicle. These should be performed about twice a year or every 5000 km. During each oil change, we will also let you know if the oil filter requires replacement.

Over the years, vehicle tune-ups have changed with new technology. For example, on older vehicles we used to change the Spark plugs, Ignition Wires, Distributor Cap, Air Filter, and Fuel Filter. However, most vehicles today are equipped with individual Coils, eliminating Distributors and Ignition wires. If you are experiencing any Misfires and/or your Check Engine Light (CEL) is on it could be something as simple as a coil malfunction.

At Capital Transmission, we are committed to meeting all of your tune-up and oil change needs, offering the most effective solutions at a fair price.

Why do a Oil Change?

One of the most common mistakes you can make with your car is to let things slide when it comes to something as simple as an oil change.

Most technicians agree that changing the engine oil and filter on a regular basis is the single most important maintenance service for your car, truck or SUV. If you are often in stop-and-go traffic, city driving, or go on frequent short trips, you may want to change your oil more often.

Properly scheduled oil changes can help your car last a long time. Changing your Oil on a regular basis can help maintain the value of your vehicle by preventing or retarding mechanical wear, internal engine rust, corrosion and sludge build-up.

Changing your Oil provides the following benefits:

  • Cleans, cools and lubricates engine components
  • Helps reduce engine wear
  • Helps you maintain your car's manufacturer warranty
  • Helps maximize fuel economy and engine performance
  • Helps prolong engine life and other vital components
  • Helps reduce emissions pollution

When would a Tune-Up be recommended?
The best time to get a Tune-Up is before you have car trouble! Be sure to follow your manufacturer's service schedule for tune-up or spark plug replacement. Bring your car in for a tune-up or diagnostic service if your experience any of the following:

  • "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light is on
  • Decrease in miles per gallon
  • Engine idle is rough and vibrates
  • Engine rattles during acceleration
  • Vehicle is difficult to start or restart
  • Engine has poor accelation, hesitation, or loss of power
  • Engine knocks, backfires or misfires
  • Engine stalls at idle or when using the air conditioner
  • Engine continues to run after you turn the ignition off
  • Vehicle emits smoke from the engine or exhaust pipe
